Fulham are interested in Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij, should he be available on a free transfer next summer.
That’s according to FC Inter News, who say Marco Silva’s side are ready to move for the Dutchman should he not renew with Inter.
They explain that the centre back is one of several players at Inter who are due to expire next summer and he’s already received interest from the Premier League.
Those initial overtures were rejected by the player as he would prefer to stay at Inter and renew his deal there.
However, that is yet to come as a spending review at the Serie A side has stopped them from making a serious offer to extend his contract.
Fulham have ow stepped in and ‘contacted the entourage’ of the defender to find out if a deal could be possible.
They have ‘money to invest’ and ambitions despite being newly promoted and their aim is to qualify for Europe next season.
De Vrij would be an ideal addition for them and they are considered a ‘valid track’ for him should he not renew at Inter.
He would still prefer the latter to happen and wants a two-year deal without a wage increase, but the Italian club have ‘frozen all talk’ of renewals for players over the age of 30 until next spring.
That’s opened the door for Fulham, who can also offer him ‘important sums’ to tempt him to England.
