It appears that Fulham are in the business of giving outcasts a new home these days, especially if they’re a full-back.
We say this following their deal with Paris Saint-Germain to grant Layvin Kurzawa a new chance to restart his career, with the left-back much maligned at the Ligue 1 side over the past few years.
Now, if Gianluca Di Marzio is to be believed, Fulham are ready to do the same for Rick Karsdorp, who has fallen out with José Mourinho at AS Roma and is looking for a new club.
The Dutchman was lambasted by his manager following a poor performance against Sassuolo, and it was made immediately clear he wouldn’t feature under the Portuguese again.
Meetings have since taken place, and everyone has agreed a January transfer would be for the best, which is where Fulham come in.
Roma would only be prepared to let Karsdorp go ‘on condition of a suitable offer for a permanent transfer’ or if they find an exchange deal for a player ‘appreciated by the management and Mourinho’.
Right now, Di Marzio states the club ‘most interested’ in the right-back are Fulham, ‘who could come up with a concrete offer once the World Cup is over’.
That’s starting next week, so we could hear some more about this in the next few days.
