Leeds United’s Maximilian Wöber was on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach last season.

The Bundesliga side are keen to bring the defender back to the club and this was revealed by their director, Roland Virkus, on July 30th. A week later, he suggested his side could swoop in for the 26-year-old towards the end of the window.

Last week, Bild reported the German club aren’t able to meet the ‘double-digit million’ fee requested by Leeds.

Thursday’s edition of Rheinische Post states the ‘last concrete’ goal for Mönchengladbach is to bolster their defence this summer.

Gladbach want to sign the Austria international again, but they are finding it difficult because of the Whites’ asking price.

The Bundesliga side are frustrated with Leeds’ stance, especially considering the centre-back is ‘just sitting on the bench’ at Elland Road.

Wöber was an unused substitute in the Whites’ 3-3 league draw against Portsmouth at the weekend. Rheinische Post haven’t taken into account that Daniel Farke started him in the EFL Cup defeat to Middlesbrough on Wednesday, but then that’s always a chance to use squad players anyway.

Either way, Gladbach are frustrated that they can’t sign the Leeds man and have to look for a new target.
