Sunday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport reports that weeks of efforts from Fabian Hürzeler, players and fans may have swayed Billy Gilmour’s thinking about leaving Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.
The midfielder played in the victory against Manchester United on Saturday and is clearly going to be a used part of the Seagulls squad if he sticks around for this season.
Initial cockiness from the media around Napoli about being able to sign him for €10-12m quickly met a colder and harder reality, and now Corriere dello Sport state Napoli are making their own ‘reflections’, things are a little frozen, and they may walk away from a deal.
Over at Gazzetta dello Sport they have it a little different.
Sunday’s edition of the famous old pink Italian newspaper says today could finally be Billy Gilmour’s Napoli day.
They state Napoli and Brighton have reached an agreement for the player’s transfer which is worth €15m plus bonuses. It’s claimed that ‘barring any surprises’, Gilmour will soon become a Napoli player.
It’s even stated the Scotland international should be ‘packing his bags’ and could soon be paired with compatriot Scott McTominay.
