Middlesbrough overtook Swansea City in the race for Kim Hellberg and have reached a verbal agreement with the Hammarby IF manager.
On Monday, Expressen reported the Swede has agreed a multi-year contract with Boro. They also stated Middlesbrough could announce his arrival yesterday but that didn’t happen.
Later that day, the Swedish outlet said Hellberg wants to take his Hammarby IF assistant, David Selini, to Middlesbrough.
A fresh report from Expressen explains what’s left for the Championship side to appoint him as their new manager.
There’s an agreement between the parties and Middlesbrough will activate his SEK 3m [€270mk] release clause. It’s claimed there are some formalities between the two clubs need sorting, without providing details.
Boro have already started working on the coach’s work permit. Express report this ‘may take a while’ but it won’t be an obstacle for them. If there are no setbacks, Middlesbrough are expected to appoint him as early as this week/coming days.
Now it’s just a case of getting the paperwork in order.
