Tottenham Hotspur supporters were understandably concerned on Thursday when Lucas Bergvall was spotted in a protective boot ahead of the club’s Europa League semi-final first-leg against Bodø/Glimt.
The Sweden international also had a pair of crutches with him, and it didn’t look like a good sign for the rest of his season.
At Tottenham’s press conference on Friday afternoon, Ange Postecoglou was obviously asked about the situation and said Bergvall is probably out for the rest of the season after tweaking ankle ligaments in a training session.
Sweden’s FotbollDirekt have covered the story and after giving the Tottenham stance, they present their own information. They state Bergvall is expected to be out for ‘at least eight weeks’.
That would obviously rule him out for the rest of the campaign.
Having done one last year, Spurs have decided against travelling for a post-season tour so there’s no concern in that regard.
Sweden play Hungary on June 6th and then Algeria on June 10th, and Bergvall looks set to miss those matches.
