We all love a good revival story and Weston McKennie’s at Juventus this season, after nearly being sold to Aston Villa, is currently one of the best.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who cover the American’s ‘magic’ club resurgence’ this season and how it cold end up in a renewal.
They say that McKennie’s resurgence at Juventus has been almost magical so far after drama in the summer as Juventus tried to sell him to Aston Villa.
Back in June Juventus managers were ready to pack his bads and send him to Villa Park as part of the exchange deal for Douglas Luiz, but the midfielder refused. Instead, Luiz has not worked out and McKennie has become a key player.
He’s worked hard to convince manager Thiago Motta, who has grown to appreciate him in the last few months and the different characteristics he can offer.
Juventus already tied him to a new deal in August but they’re already working on a new deal to 2028 or 2029 as a reward for his performances on the pitch.
It’s a ‘magic’ turnaround for a player they absolutely did not want in the summer and were determined to get move on to Aston Villa before he flat out refused to play his part.
