Tottenham Hotspur‘s Pedro Porro is close to signing a new contract with the Premier League side.
The Spain international has been a regular for Tottenham since moving from Sporting in January 2023.
Since then, Spurs have had multiple managers but the right-back always maintained his place in the starting XI.
He’s managed 13 goals and 26 assists from 152 matches, of which 3,923 minutes are from 47 matches this season.
His performances haven’t gone unnoticed, especially in England and Spain. Recent claims have mentioned Manchester City interest.
The 26-year-old, who is with La Roja at the World Cup, made it clear on Thursday that he doesn’t want potential transfer talk to distract him.
He said: “I won’t listen to anything until after the World Cup. Besides, I have a contract with my club. If my agent calls, I’ll either not answer the phone or tell him after the World Cup. City? I don’t know anything…”

AS back up City’s desire to bring him back to the club. Pedro Porro was with the Citizens between 2019 and 2022 but didn’t make a single appearance as he was out on loan.
Manchester City sporting director Hugo Viana knows the Tottenham Hotspur star well from their time at Sporting. He seems to be driving the interest, and Spurs are aware of this.
The fullback played every minute under Roberto De Zerbi, who sees him as a leader and wants to build a team around him. The manager has ‘repeatedly emphasised’ to both the player and club of his firm desire to retain him.
This, coupled with Manchester City interest has seen Tottenham take action. Their response was swift, so much so that Spurs are now close to reaching an agreement for Porro’s renewal.
There’s no mention of the details of the contract, such as the duration or the salary. AS also don’t specify what’s pending for the two parties to find a total agreement.
Spurs to nullify Manchester City threat
Pedro Porro’s current contract runs until 2028 and Transfermarkt value him at €35m.
The newspaper claim Tottenham Hotspur were facing the risk of Manchester City’s attack. To avoid such a scenario and negate the latter’s threat, Spurs decided to act quickly to tie him down to a new contract.
