Mundo Deportivo have dragged Liverpool into the picture for Joan Garcia, as they cover earlier claims of Arsenal reaching a personal agreement with the Espanyol goalkeeper.
Of course, Liverpool appear to be in pretty advanced negotiations for another goalkeeper based in Spain. Today there’s again been repeat claims the Reds are edging forward with a move for Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Reports regarding that potential move have made it sound like Arne Slot’s side are pushing ahead, although there’s now claims the stopper could remain at Valencia on loan rather than going to Bournemouth to pick up Premier League experience.
Claims of Arsenal interest in Joan Garcia go back to June, when it was reported the player would soon join Arsenal. The 23-year-old is a very highly rated goalkeeper and the idea was he could provide back-up and competition now before becoming the senior option in the future.
The journalist covering the story for Mundo Deportivo is Sergio Escario, who is their Espanyol correspondent. Therefore, that’s the side of a potential deal these claims are likely to be coming for.
There may be an attempt to use a supposed Liverpool interest to pressure Arsenal and others, with Girona also mentioned.
