QPR

Lucas Andersen has found his first club since Queens Park Rangers and completed a move to BG Pathum United FC.

The attacking midfielder had been without a club since QPR released him at the end of last season.

He joined the Championship side in February 2024, after terminating his contract with AaB Fodbold. The move saw him reunite with manager Martí Cifuentes, who previously coached him at the Danish club.

Andersen played 2,126 minutes from 51 matches in all competitions for QPR and scored three goals and contributed four assists. This includes 33 appearances last season.

Cifuentes left the club last year when QPR decided to not extend the 29-year-old stay. He failed to find a new club last summer and in October, Sport Witness covered claims from Denmark of multiple sides making offers.

He had proposals from unnamed Saudi  clubs and even Cypriot side Olympiakos Nicosia and turned down all of them. A month later, the player said he had to accept the consequences of rejecting these clubs.

There were suggestions he could end his playing career but on March 6th, he isn’t he hasn’t retired.

Light at end of tunnel after QPR exit

Lucas Andersen’s wait has now come to an end. He has completed a move to BG Pathum United FC, who play in Thai League 1, Thailand’s top division league.

This gets coverage in Thursday’s edition of Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

The Thai club’s official page on X, formerly known as Twitter, have also relayed comments made by the player after securing a new club.

On his move to Asia, he said: “I feel very honoured by this opportunity. I am looking forward to getting started at this fantastic club. I look forward to getting on the pitch and hoping to achieve great things for the club.”

Why Dane won’t feature immediately

BG Pathum United FC mention in their statement that Lucas Andersen’s signing is for the 2026/27 season. The current season, which is the 2025/26 season, will come to an end on May 10th.

Therefore, he has to wait for a few months to make his first competitive appearance since leaving QPR.
