On Thursday, Il Mattino reported Napoli have asked Manchester United about signing Kobbie Mainoo.

The Naples newspaper stated there’s also interest from Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, with Chelsea having had a bid rejected in January.

The midfielder’s situation is picking up more attention in Italy, with Alfredo Pedulla also a Napoli attempt.

He said, as relayed by NapoliMagazine: What can I tell you about Manchester United’s Mainoo? Yesterday’s English launch was sensational. Mainoo is a fantastic 2005 player, he’s incredibly talented. If I were president, sporting director, and coach of my team, and I had him, I would never give him away.“

The journalist claimed that there is no certainty the Red Devils will let the 20-year-old leave.

“In fact, there’s no guarantee they’ll give him away. What I can tell you is that, during the call and the discussions, Napoli asked for information—as I said last night on TV—but it didn’t go beyond a simple request. We’ll see if there are any developments.”

Today’s Corriere del Mezzogiorno adds more, stating there’s been talks ‘in recent weeks’ between Napoli and Manchester United for Mainoo, however, the Serie A side haven’t found the right conditions to make a deal palatable.

The Premier League club are said to be asking for €50m, rejecting any approaches regarding a loan with an option to buy.

It doesn’t end there, as Tuttomercatoweb today reveal interest from AS Roma.

Giallorossi sporting director Frederic Massara has the midfielder on his shortlist and could make a late move in the window.

Manager Gian Piero Gasperini wants a playmaker in midfield and Mainoo fits the mould.
