A large section of Manchester United fans are unhappy with the manner in which the club conduct their transfer business and have been calling for the club to appoint a new director of football.
There were previous reports the Red Devils wanted to bring in someone for the position, but José Mourinho opposed it when he was in charge at the club.
It’s been more than a year since United sacked the Portuguese coach and the Old Trafford club have so far not appointed a director of football.
Last week, reports in the British press stated that United are looking to appoint Lille’s Luis Campos as the new director of football. It was even suggested their pursuit of him is closing in.
Le10 Sport have picked up these claims and have not only rubbished reports of Campos joining United, but also stressed there has been no contact between the Premier League side and the Lille chief.
It’s claimed Campos is happy with the Ligue 1 club and has no plans to leave them and Lille president Gérard López, with whom ‘he is very close’. Le10 end their report by stating ‘Lille supporters can be reassured: he will not move’.

Earlier this month, L’Equipe named Campos as the 14th most influential person in French football and when speaking to the newspaper, he explained his decision to continue with Lille.
“My relationship with Gerard (Lopez) changes the scenario. I am an advisor but we have a relationship that goes beyond the professional framework and spans the border of friendship,” Campos said.
“On the other hand, I think that LOSC has enormous potential to become even more competitive in France and in Europe. It makes me want to be even more active to achieve this, to bring positive vibes to take advantage of the extraordinary assets of this club with its city, its economy, its stadium, its training centre and its geographical position.”
