Monday morning saw various reports from the Spanish press stating Manchester United have intensified talks with Real Madrid to sign Raphaël Varane.

Later that day, there were claims from France stating the deal to take the defender to Old Trafford ‘should be completed soon’.

There seems to be a fresh development on this case if claims coming out of France are to be believed.

According to TF1 journalist Julien Maynard, ‘everything is completed’ for the 28-year-old’s transfer to the Premier League side and he’s set to sign a four-year contract with the Red Devils, with an option to further extend it by a year.

Despite the progress made by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, the French journalist adds the former Lens man’s signing will not be ‘formalised’ until next week because the player will have quarantine on his arrival in England.

Claims made by Maynard are also echoed by RMC Sport journalist Loïc Tanzi, who further adds the La Liga side have ‘reached an agreement’ with United to sell the World Cup winner.

Tanzi explains only a few details are left to be sorted out and once that’s done, Varane will fly to England this week, where he will have to quarantine, after which he will sign his four-year contract [option to extend it by a year].
