Aston Villa and Newcastle United could need new centre-backs soon.
The Magpies have Fabian Schar, Dan Burn and Jamaal Lascelles but all of them are above 30. Unai Emery’s side also have over 30s in Diego Carlos and Tyrone Mings.
Diario Expreso in Ecuador today report both Newcastle United and Aston Villa have watched Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez closely.
The Ecuadorian centre-back is on the ‘agenda’ of the Premier League clubs, and the 20-year-old is compared to Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger.
This interest in the youngster has increased since he established himself as a regular for the Ecuadorian national team, starting their last two games in World Cup qualifiers last month.
He is also a key part of the Club Brugge side, playing 11 times in the Jupiler Pro League this season.
Ordonez also played in the UEFA Conference League last season, and Newcastle United and Aston Villa will be following his development.
