Manchester United could soon face a tricky decision over Casemiro’s future. The Brazilian midfielder is entering the final months of his contract, and negotiations are expected to centre on his salary.

Journalist Fred Caldeira spoke at TNT Sports Brazil and Manchester United would like to reduce his wages, but Casemiro seems unwilling to accept a pay cut.

He recalled that, of the 20 goals conceded by Manchester United this season in all competitions, five were with Casemiro on the pitch and 15 without the Brazilian.

“The contract ends at the end of the season. The salary is big, United want to reduce it, but I think Casemiro doesn’t want to lower his salary. Let’s see what happens. But there is no substitute for Casemiro in the Manchester United squad,” Caldeira said.

The numbers show how valuable he remains. Manchester United concede fewer goals when he plays, and his leadership continues to stand out. Casemiro brings calm, organisation, and authority to the team, even when his physical condition is tested.

Still, his current deal weighs heavily on United’s wage bill. The club are trying to create a more sustainable structure and may struggle to justify such a high salary for a 34-year-old.

Whether Casemiro agrees to earn less could decide if he stays in Manchester or looks for a new challenge elsewhere.
