Brighton & Hove Albion have locked in on Venezia’s Michael Svoboda and are working on bringing him to The Amex.
On Thursday, we relayed news of the Seagulls informing the Italian club of their plan to activate his €5m clause, which is valid from July. They are also in talks with the defender to find an agreement.
Earlier today, Sport Witness covered multiple claims of Brighton making advances to agree personal terms with the 27-year-old. If there’s an agreement, he’s expected to undergo medical tests after the World Cup.
The English club could face a threat from both Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hamburg SV.

The Bundesliga sides are keen and could enter the race to sign the Austria international. It would probably come down to the club that will put the best offer on the table and also convince the player.
Therefore, the Seagulls have to rush and strike an agreement with all parties and then activate his €5m clause in July.

Hamburg stance encouraging for Brighton
Hamburger Morgenpost, a newspaper local to the German club, plays down the Austrian claim about Hamburg.
Although they are keen on the Venezia player, Hamburg aren’t in a position to compete financially with Brighton. In addition to this, the Bundesliga side ‘have not yet definitively identified Svoboda’ as Luka Vušković’s successor.
Svoboda’s contract expires in 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €3.5m.
