Earlier this year, we covered claims from Argentina that Newcastle United have scouted Boca Juniors’ Kevin Zenón.
The Argentine club signed him from Unión Santa Fe in January, and the midfielder managed four goals and seven assists from 32 games this year.
Zenón is back on Newcastle’s radar. That’s according to LT10, who state the Magpies want to sign him and have made contact. That contact is probably to understand the conditions needed to secure his services.
The Argentine has a deal lasting until December 2028, and the report states Boca Juniors want $20m [£15.2m] to let go of him. His former club will receive 20% of a future sale, which is why they are keeping close tabs on Newcastle’s interest.
Uno Santa Fe are also reporting about the Premier League side’s interest in the 23-year-old. They say the player has a $15m [£11.4m] release clause, but Boca Juniors president Juan Román Riquelme is requesting $20m.
At this moment in time, Newcastle have only made contact. It may not be an issue for them to invest around £15m on Zenón.
