On January 9th, 1908.nl reported Feyenoord are keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Bryan Gil in the winter market and are ready to submit an offer for him.
Three days later, Soccernews stated the winger would be an ‘excellent’ solution for the Dutch champions and Arne Slot could get the best out of him.
Feyenoord Pings state the Eredivisie side are looking for a new winger this month and have their eyes set on the Tottenham man.
Former Ajax and PSV Eindhoven manager Aad de Mos has been speaking to Soccernews, relayed by Feyenoord Pings, and has urged Slot’s side to forget making an approach for the 22-year-old in January.
Gil came up through the ranks of Sevilla’s academy and they sold him to the north London club in 2021. He’s failed to have a prominent role at Spurs and that’s already resulted in two loan moves to Valencia and the Andalusian club.
De Mos has doubts whether the Spain international will be able to adapt to the style of football employed by Slot at Feyenoord.
“If you have to catch up in the winter, you haven’t done well in the summer. There are those panic situations again, it all comes through brokers,” he said.
“That boy is now at Tottenham. He’s a lot of fun with the ball, it’s all frivolous. I’ve seen that boy, he has certain qualities. But if you’re not good enough for Tottenham and Sevilla, I always wonder if he’s enough for Feyenoord.
“The same goes for Henderson. We saw it with Ocampos, Suteal. Is all that suitable for the football of Feyenoord and Ajax?
“Sometimes we don’t talk about it a little too much. We always look at big names in terms of clubs they have behind them. They have always been allowed to play for big boys or substitute for big clubs. It’s not like every Croat is Modric, if you know what I mean.”
Gil has seen his game time restricted at Tottenham as he’s clocked in 217 minutes from 10 games this season. He’s also been linked with moves to Real Sociedad and Fiorentina in January.
