Once upon a time we didn’t know about flight radars and the ability to follow planes across the globe. Now that’s not the case, as Everton’s new owners the Friedkins prove.
Roma Forever cover the situation today, explaining how their private jet has been tracked to the UK and has led to tongues wagging.
They explain that excitement built yesterday as ahead of the game against Tottenham in London, ‘unexpected news’ regarding the Friedkins arrived.
That news was that the Friedkins’ jet was spotted at Luton airport in London since Tuesday, a little surprising given the Italian team weren’t travelling until later in the week.
That set tongues wagging and aside from potential negotiations about Everton from their London base, there’s a belief that Dan and Ryan Friedkin may in fact show their faces for the Tottenham game.
With matters in Rome now settling down thanks to the appointment of Claudio Ranieri, the belief is that the American duo may be present to ‘lend support to the team’. Their presence would also ‘represent an important signal’ for the Giallorossi team that they’re still interested.
This is based on the fear that’s been around Roma for a while that once the Everton purchase is complete, they may be cast aside.
This is something the Friedkins have continually denied and has been denied in the Italian press too, but a surprise appearance against Tottenham could go some way to alleviating it among the fanbase too.
The possibility of the pair even offering ‘a few words of encouragement’ to the team isn’t being ruled out and would be a ‘strong signal of trust’, while also helping to close the gap that’s formed between various parties in recent month.
“Friedkin in London for Tottenham-Roma? Why not?” said journalist Angelo Mangiante of Sky Sport.
“It would be a way of getting closer to the team now that Ranieri is there. It would be a very interesting message from them of rapprochement with the team.”
Whether any of that happens remains to be seen but the feeling is the Friedkins are doing thing differently, a sign perhaps they’ve learned from previous mistakes.
