While Everton fans cannot wait for the Friedkin Group to takeover at Goodison Park, life is not so rosy at AS Roma.

Sport Mediaset cover the drama today and how Roma fans are now in open protest against their American owners following the sacking of Daniele De Rossi.

The newspaper reports that posters have been plastered across the city thanks to an ‘anonymous initiative’ by a group of fans ahead of the Europa League opener against Athletic Bilbao.

The posters, which appeared overnight, show De Rossi and the phrase ‘De Rossi nostra vanto’, which translates as ‘De Rossi, our pride’ and then the phrase ‘Yankee go home!’ in English in the corner.

The posters have appeared close to the club’s stadium and the roads that surround it, a clear attempt to send a message to other fans and the American owners.

They find themselves under increasing pressure after the surprise decision to sack Roma icon De Rossi from his position as manager following a slow start to the season despite backing him in the summer. It’s already seen the resignation of CEO Lina Souloukou.

The announcement of the impending purchase of Everton has also caused waves, with many Roma fans convinced the American group will ditch the Italian club for the Toffees at some point.

This is something the Friedkins have denied, insisting they will run a multi-club model and continue to back Roma, although how they will do so once the Everton takeover is completed remains to be seen.

It’s a decision that may be taken out of their hands, with sentiment turning against them in Rome and these posters the latest demonstration of that.
