Tottenham Hotspur’s Manor Solomon has been out on loan since the start of last season.
After a season-long loan spell at Leeds United, Tottenham let the forward join Villarreal last summer.
Solomon struggled for regular minutes and failed to shine when offered opportunities. This convinced him to cut short the loan stay with the La Liga side in January. Spurs agreed and sanctioned a loan move to Fiorentina in the same window.
The temporary move to Italy has allowed the Tottenham owned player to feature regularly as he scored two goals from 11 matches.
On Thursday, Solomon came off the bench in Fiorentina’s extra time defeat to Jagiellonia in the UEFA Conference League. Despite the loss, La Viola have made it to the next round of the competition.
However, it has now come at a cost as the Israel international picked up an injury.
Fresh blow for Tottenham man
The 26-year-old had to leave the pitch with an injury blow. After the tie, Fiorentina manager Paolo Vanoli confirmed the nature of his setback and Gazzetta dello Sport have relayed his comments.
“He’s unlikely to be back for Monday’s match against Udinese. He’s struggling with a problem in his rectus femoris. We’ll have tests done tomorrow,” he said.
Firenze Viola also say the Spurs attacker is unlikely to be fit on time when Fiorentina face Udinese in the league on Monday.
The Italian club are hoping for Solomon to return when they host Parma in the league on March 8th. The outlet makes it clear this is only possible if his setback isn’t ‘more serious than expected’.
Solomon’s future beyond this season
Fiorentina have secured a purchase clause and Solomon’s agent Shlomy Ben Ezra recently revealed the buying option is around €10m.
The representative has also made it clear his client won’t stay if La Viola are relegated. They are currently 16th, level on points with 18th placed US Lecce.
Earlier this month, Sport Witness relayed news from Italy that Fiorentina want Tottenham to offer a discount on the €10m clause.
