Lyon are reportedly keen on signing Ruben Vinagre from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

It’s Portuguese newspaper O Jogo who reports it today, claiming the French side are looking for a left-back after Ferland Mendy’s departure to Real Madrid.

The outlet says they’ve identified Vinagre as a target, and have already made first contact with Wolves for the signing.

Lyon’s intention would be to get Vinagre on a loan deal with an option to buy. He would not arrive at the club with the status of a star, since he would have to compete with Fernando Marçal for a place in the team.

O Jogo’s story is pretty short, so that’s all they have to say for now. They also don’t make it clear if Wolves would agree let the player go this summer.

Signed from Monaco on a €2.25m deal a year ago, Vinagre made 21 appearances for Wolves last season. Most of them coming off the bench, with Jonny Otto being Nuno Espírito Santo’s first pick for the position.

However, since Vinagre is only 20, perhaps the Molineux side have big hopes for his future at the club.
