Ligue 2 side Sochaux are keen on a move for Barnsley striker Mamadou Thiam when his contract expires with the Championship side this summer.

Thiam has been at Barnsley since 2017 when he arrived in a £900,000 deal from French side Dijon.

His time at the club has not been a successful one, though, with him managing just eight goals and nine assists in 92 games so far.

This year he has found himself far out of the picture, managing just eight appearances in 332 minutes and no goals or assists in any of them.

His contract with the Tykes is set to expire in June this year, and thus far there has been no indication that he or the club are keen on a renewal.

He will, therefore, be looking for a new club and, according to RMC journalist Loïc Tanzi, that could be Sochaux as they are keen to sign him up once his deal with Barnsley expires.

The French side are pushing ahead with their plans for the summer, and are seemingly keen to exploit the free market, having already started discussions with Florentin Pogba, and Thiam is another on their list.
