Liverpool target Trincão
Liverpool target Trincão

Liverpool have Sporting star Francisco Trincão in their target list for the summer.

The Portugal international has mainly operated on the right wing for most of his career.

However, he mainly played as an attacking midfielder at Sporting this season, scoring 13 goals and contributing 18 assists from 53 matches.

His performances have already caught Liverpool’s attention as they are in the market for a new right winger. Mohamed Salah has occupied that position at Anfield for long and will leave after this season.

The Reds identified RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande as one of their main targets. He ruled out a move in the summer but left the door open for a future transfer.

Arne Slot’s side have to look at other targets and could consider signing the Sporting man.

Liverpool keen on former PL attacker

Francisco Trincão spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers and managed three goals and an assist from 30 matches.

The Merseyside club could bring him back to the Premier League in the summer.

The 26-year-old is on the front page of today’s Record, with ‘Trincão on the English route’ written in bold and also a mention of Liverpool’s interest.

Within the report, the newspaper states the attacker has a market in England.

The Reds are the only club to get a mention and are keen on securing his services.

Therefore, the Lions are willing to listen to offers, as long as it’s acceptable. He has a €60m release clause in his contract, but Sporting could probably sell him for a lower price.

Earlier this month, Sporting manager Rui Borges already indicated he “may want to take a different path” in the summer.

All these factors should please Liverpool, as long as they are willing to make a concrete move to sign Trincão.

Contract, value and agent info

On March 4th, Francisco Trincão signed a new contract with Sporting until 2030. His value now, as per Transfermarkt, is €35m and it’s the highest of his career.
