France Football are reporting Lyon ‘will have to handle the case’ of Marcelo, who is on the radar of West Ham United after Manuel Pellegrini’s side asked about the 31-year-old centre-back, as the French side continue to search for a new defender.

Lyon wanted to sign Abdou Diallo from Mainz to strengthen their defence. The Frenchman decided against joining the Ligue 1 outfit and signed for Borussia Dortmund earlier this transfer window.

France Football claim Lyon have since turned their attention towards signing Barcelona defender Yerry Mina, as the Colombian international’s services are no longer required for Ernesto Valverde at Camp Nou.

While waiting to find out Mina’s response, Barcelona offered another player, Marlon, to Bruno Génésio’s side this summer.

The report claims the Blaugrana are looking for a fee of around €14 million to sanction the sale of the Brazilian. However, Lyon have turned down the opportunity to sign him.

Earlier today, we carried a report from Catalan newspaper Sport, who claimed Southampton have ‘failed to arrange’ a transfer for Barcelona defender Marlon. They also talked about the Hammers’ interest in signing the player this summer.

Now that Barcelona does not have many takers for Marlon, will they allow him to join a club like West Ham for a lower price or will Manuel Pellegrini’s side look at other options, like Marcelo?
