In a rather impressive turn of events, a few days after former striker Gilles de Bilde suggested Victor Wanyama as an option for Club Brugge to replace Marvelous Nakamba, the player is now ‘very close’ to signing for the Jupiler Pro League side.
This is according to Soccer Link in France, who are claiming the Belgian side have reached an agreement with Tottenham for the defensive midfielder.
The fee reportedly taking the 28-year-old across the Channel is expected to be €10m with an extra €5m if the club qualify for the Champions League.
However, the deal isn’t done just yet, with a ‘few details’ still needed to be sorted out.
Wanyama has only started 12 times under Mauricio Pochettino since the 2017/18 season, with most of his absences down to recurring injuries.
He arrived at Tottenham back in 2016 from Southampton for £13m, where he had spent three seasons after a successful spell at Celtic.
The player, should this move be completed, will be returning to a country he already knows, having spent three years with Beerschot AC.
