Earlier today, we relayed the news from France that Kylian Mbappé was still feeling some pain in his calf and had trained to one side on Monday evening ahead of the crucial clash against Manchester City in the Champions League.

The Frenchman was a big question mark ahead of the fixture, but it appears that Mauricio Pochettino has decided against gambling his young star at the Etihad, at least from the off.

That’s according to TF1 journalist Julien Maynard, who took to Twitter to reveal that Mbappé ‘isn’t expected to start the game against Manchester City’, and that the Argentine manager was going to ‘leave him on the bench’.

The logic behind that will be to see whether or not the rest of his teammates can do the job to turn around a 2-1 deficit after their loss at the Parc des Princes, and will only call upon the player’s skillset should he desperately need to.

Either way, no Mbappé in the starting line up against Manchester City, it seems.
