Clearly not a part of Pep Guardiola’s plans for the coming season, Eliaquim Mangala is having to look elsewhere to try and get time on the pitch.
Not wanting to stall his progress, the 25-year-old is looking for a loan away from the north of England, and, according to Le10 Sport, his destination will be Porto.
The French magazine claim as an exclusive on their website that the defender has made the choice to return to his former club rather than go to AC Milan, who were also on his trail.
His agent, Jorge Mendes, is said to have reached an agreement with Manchester City to get a deal done before the end of the transfer window.
The player will only return to Porto on a loan, rather than the Premier League club deciding to let him go permanently, which makes sense considering how much they spent on him in the first place.
After many reports on Sunday the Portuguese club had the upper hand, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise, but it does seem like Mangala is going back to the Primeira Liga.
