AS Monaco are not the same AS Monaco who Tottenham battered 4-1 at White Hart Lane last year, insists L’Equipe on Wednesday.
Top of Ligue 1 with 10 points after 4 games, the French principality club are on the up and manager Leonardo Jardim has really got the team playing well.
L’Equipe say the team that lost to Tottenham was already beaten when they entered the pitch, some players weren’t fit, some out of position, and others off form or simply not good enough, and there was a real lack of belief.
The French newspaper say that if Spurs fans expect to see a similar level team to last time then they’re in for a shock. L’Equipe say there’s still time for Hugo Lloris, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, Moussa Sissoko and Mauricio Pochettino to persuade them differently.
It’s pointed out that those four know Ligue 1 well, and can therefore change the perception some fans may have of an easy game ahead. Maybe they should hold a press conference!
For Monaco, L’Equipe say, ‘It’s time to have fun’, the newspaper will hope they don’t have egg on their face tomorrow.
