On Wednesday, we covered the latest in West Bromwich Albion’s pursuit of Okay Yokuşlu, with reports from France suggesting the Premier League side had made something of an ultimatum.
RMC Sport were reporting the Baggies had put forward a paid loan with a compulsory purchase clause of around €5m if they stayed up, and the answer from Celta Vigo was expected within the same day.
It took a bit longer than that, but it’s finally arrived, with the same outlet, via their journalist Loïc Tanzi, claiming the La Liga side ‘have accepted’ the bid.
That doesn’t mean things are done, because it’s explained ‘the player still needs to be convinced’ before adding there is competition from an unnamed Spanish side.
It appeared the ultimatum avenue worked, and if they can get Yokuşlu to agree to a move to the Hawthorns, then Sam Allardyce could end up with two new signings before the end of the window, with Mbaye Diagne seemingly on his way too.
