Aston Villa’s attempts to hire Ruben Amorim from Sporting Club de Portugal could see them going head to with Paris Saint Germain.

That’s according to Le 10 Sport, who say the Portuguese coach is being eyed up by the French giants as a possible replacement for Christophe Galtier down the line.

They explain that PSG chief Antero Henrique is reportedly ‘considering’ Amorim as a potential successor to Galtier, should they decide to part from the Frenchman in the summer or beyond.

That can’t do that if Aston Villa succeed first, who have made Amorim their number one target after sacking Steven Gerrard.

They have reportedly already received rejections from the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel, which has led them to Amorim.

Reports in Portugal have made it clear he’s not jumped at the chance but that’s seemingly not deterred the Villans in their pursuit.

They ‘want to compete’ with PSG for his signature, which would be something of an unfair fight given what the French side can offer.

Should Amorim be aware PSG are considering him then it will likely make things even more difficult for Aston Villa.
