While Juan Cuadrado will be playing for Juventus for the next two and a half season, he technically still is a Chelsea player.

The Colombian winger, bought by José Mourinho from Fiorentina back in 2014, was the decisive factor in a 1-0 win against Inter Milan at the weekend, and has been the subject of much praise over the past couple of days in the Italian media.

Over the summer, however, the arrival of Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge raised a lot of questions regarding the player’s future, who would have been an ideal candidate for the right wing-back role currently occupied by Victor Moses, but his insistence to return to Italy earned him a three-year loan at the Serie A champions.

Only ever making 15 appearances for the Blues, his time in the Premier League will be one Juan Cuadrado will want to forget, as explained by his mother, interviewed on Tuesday by Gazzetta dello Sport.

Speaking of his brief period at Chelsea, Marcela Bello Guerrero said: “He continued to smile, but I could that it was put on. It was a difficult period for him, the toughest of his career. Over the summer, I was praying every day for him to return to Juventus. I knew he would return to Turin.”

Juventus have an option to make the three-year loan permanent for €25m, which you would expect them to do in the summer, if the player continues to be this decisive in coming weeks.
