Brazilian forward Hulk spent nearly nine years playing in Russia and China, which was a reason for many people to have doubts about his form when he signed for Atletico Mineiro in February 2021.

His spell at the Galo, however, has been quite impressive, as he currently holds a record of 51 goals and 16 assists in 84 appearances, which was more than enough to prove himself and even dream of a new chance at the national team.

Now it turns out Hulk could have moved somewhere else instead of returning to Brazil, because as revealed by the player himself, Tottenham Hotspur tried to sign him.

The claims were made on the Conversa com Bial show last night, where Hulk was speaking of his reasons to return to the country, pointing out that was his main wish, and claimed there was only one offer that could’ve brought him somewhere else.

That was from Tottenham, but a problem with getting a work permit was the issue that made it collapse.

“The only proposal that really weighed for me to go, which I had said ‘yes’, was to England. There was a proposal from Tottenham. Mourinho, at the time, had given the ok,” said Hulk.

“And due to the rules, because I was playing in China, a long time without playing in the Brazilian national team, I couldn’t play in England. So the lawyers tried to see if there was a loophole, there wasn’t. So it was the proposal that I would have accepted at that moment there.”

That’s why, instead of heading to England to Tottenham, Hulk ended up returning to Brazil when he left Shanghai Port.
