Bordeaux striker Alberth Elis has admitted it is his dream to play in the Premier League amid interest from Leeds United.

Elis enjoyed a strong campaign in France this past season, scoring nine goals and registering one assist in 21 games, during a loan spell with Bordeaux.

The French side have already moved quickly to sign him up to a permanent deal, but he is unlikely to stay this summer, with several reports from France making it clear he will be sold on.

Leeds are known to be keen and have reportedly already made a bid, with L’Equipe reporting today that he has been ‘targeted’ by those in charge at Elland Road.

They’re looking to get a deal over the line and are could well do so, given Bordeaux are looking for a reasonably low fee of €13-14m.

Should that be a price Leeds are willing to pay, it seems they will not need to convince the forward either, with him admitting he would love to play in the Premier League.

“For now, I have a contract with the team; I have to respect it,” he told El Heraldo.

“I am very grateful to them for the support they gave me, for the way they received me when I arrived in France.

“My dream has always been to play in the English league, and let’s hope that it will happen; first of all, God will give me that opportunity, and I will be able to take advantage of it.

“In football, rumours are worthless because if at the end of the day a contract is not signed, there is nothing.

“I’ve had to live this year by year, practically every year, I’m put on the market at the end of the season, and I’ve learned to take things calmly. If I get the opportunity, we will be ready.”
