According to Hamburger Morgenpost, Pierre-Michel Lasogga could have played his last game for Hamburg. The forward has been linked with a move to Leeds United in recent days, and it’s a popular story in Germany.
It’s been reported Lasogga could have said his farewells this coming Sunday when Hamburg take on Osnabrück in the DFB Cup first round, but a thigh injury has ruled him out of the game.
The Bundesliga side are prepared to offload the 25 year old before the window closes, with the player looking surplus to requirements. Hamburg are also keen to get him off the pay roll, due to his reported salary of around €3.5m.
Hamburger Morgenpost believe a deal with Leeds United could be good for both clubs, with the Championship side looking to loan Lasogga for the season.
Leeds United have yet to make an approach for the former Germany U21 international, say Morgenpost, contradicting other claims, but developments could happen quickly once this happens.
A move to Leeds United would give Lasogga a chance to kick tart his career after making just five league starts last season. The player is contracted to Hamburg until June 2019.
