Everton and West Ham United are interested in Salernitana midfielder Boulaye Dia, with an ‘assault’ expected for his signature.
That’s according to Cronache Salerno, who say the Premier League duo are both keen on the Senegal forward ahead of the January transfer window.
They report that the Italian club are preparing for a busy month as chief Morgan de Sanctis looks for signings to fill the holes caused by injuries or shortages in the squad.
He is also having to deal with ‘the assault’ from the Premier League for the ‘prized pieces’ of that squad, though, among whom Dia ranks highly.
He has been with them on loan from Villarreal since August and fully impressed, bagging six goals and two assists in 14 appearances in Serie A so far. He also bagged a goal in Senegal’s 3-1 win over Qatar at the World Cup.
That has apparently ramped up interest in his signature and he is being ‘insistently sought’ by both Everton and West Ham ahead of next month.
There is no mention of the deals that either side are looking for at this moment in time, just that they are keen on the forward and Salernitana are facing an ‘onslaught’ of interest in him.
Everton certainly need reinforcements up front as that’s been a problem area for some time. It’s not as much of an issue for West Ham, who spent big on Gianluca Scamacca in the summer and have Michail Antonio up front as well.
The latter has been beset by injury issues for years, though, and perhaps David Moyes is eyeing a more reliable alternative in Dia.
Either way, both are reportedly keen on the forward, although how they intend to get him out of his loan deal at Salernitana and to the Premier League remains to be seen.
