The Jose Mourinho train truly rolled into Manchester United on Tuesday, and already there’s some controversy. Aside from the usual Arsene Wenger snipe, Mourinho said a few newsworthy quotes which have naturally made the news all over the world.
One was about Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, who left the club last week, having worked as assistant manager under Louis van Gaal, a role taken by Rui Faria for Mourinho’s set-up.
The former Chelsea manager said: “It’s not my responsibility Ryan is not in the club. The job Ryan wanted is the job the club decided to give me. If one day he wants to come back to the club while I am here, I would never stop him.”
It was common knowledge Giggs wanted the Manchester United job, and of course everyone knows who got it, so Mourinho’s comments have been seen by some to be unnecessary.
The Times on Wednesday run a story saying Giggs himself is furious over what Mourinho said, and this is something which could rumble on.
One man who wouldn’t be expected to jump into the situation is former Tottenham striker Mido. The Egyptian played for Tottenham more times than any other club, despite only starting 48 competitive matches for them.
Despite that, Mido seems to have a lot of respect for Giggs, who stayed at one club his entire career.
Taking to twitter, Mido said:
I think Mourinho was wrong to mention that #Giggs wanted his job at @ManUtd ..even if he was right!! I think it’s stupid to mention that!!

#Giggs deserves more respect and @ManUtd sld v never allow #Mourinho to say that!!

He then retweeted this:
@midoahm Absolutely. You sacrifice a bit of your soul and tradition as a club by allowing an outsider to say that about 1 of your legends.

So what has any of this got to do with Mido, why is he so bothered about Ryan Giggs?
Well, maybe his next tweet gave a clue, Mido has been working on his UEFA badges in Wales.
Very happy that I have passed my Assessment for the UEFA B with @FAWCoachEd and looking forward to learn more and more in #Wales
