Don’t worry, Newcastle fans, this isn’t a story about Xisco possibly returning to St James’ Park, because, well, no one wants that, but it’s more of an update on what he’s up to.
If you clicked on this, it’s because you’re mildly interested in what he’s been doing since leaving Newcastle on a free in 2013, and Marca provide a nice update on the 30-year-old.
The player moved to Cordoba following his five-year stay in the north of England, and, brief six month loan to Mallorca aside, stayed there until the summer.
His next move was a bit left field, as on the 15th of the July 2016, he made the decision to try out Thai football, where he signed for Muangthong United on a one-year deal.
Speaking to the Spanish newspaper, the former Deportivo La Coruña striker explained what life in Thailand was like and his adaptation to their football.
He said: “Things here are going well, with the chance of being champions. Personally, I’m adapting well and I’ve scored three goals. I struggled a bit at first because the League had already started and I came from holiday.
“All the food is a little spicy. You have to try it first, but stadiums are filled and there are a lot of fans. The quality of life is good and my family will come in January. Here, you focus on the game one or two days before. It’s one less than in Spain, but it’s competitive.”
So there you go: spicy food, filled stadiums and competitive football. What’s not to like?
