It seems former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes will once again have the chance to prove himself against an English club.

As Lille prepare to play Aston Villa in the Conference League tomorrow evening, their manager Paulo Fonseca points out he should be fit for the match.

Gomes had missed out in Lille’s last couple of league matches due to a thigh injury, not playing against Marseille at the weekend.

Now as the club’s official account shares some quotes from the manager, he confirms the former Manchester United player should face Aston Villa.

“Rafael Fernandes and Samuel Umtiti are injured. Angel Gomes is with us. He’s here to help the team. All the others are ready.”

Outlet Le Petit Lillois today shares a piece from Data Foot showing the biggest chance creators in Ligue 1, and Gomes is right there in the top four.

Manchester United had Gomes at their academy, and he left for Lille on a free transfer back in 2020. He’s how 23, and currently has two goals and right assists in 37 appearances for the French side this season. He’ll probably have some extra motivation to do well against a Premier League club in an European competition now.
