Former Leeds United goalkeeper Nigel Martyn believes the Championship side need to look at the likes of Huddersfield Town and Brighton in their pursuit of Premier League football.

Speaking to Bwin, the former Leeds United star was asked about the Whites start to the season, and their prospects of getting back into the top flight: “The thing with a club like Leeds is that if they got into the Premiership, they could really kick on with the fan-base and size of the club.”

“To get there, they need to look at the likes of Brighton and Huddersfield who were consistent through the season and showed what can be achieved with a tight-knit group.”

Leeds United have made an impressive start to the season, and currently top the Championship table on goal difference. Thomas Christiansen’a side again won this weekend when their recorded a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town, and they are one of the favourites to get promotion this season.

The Yorkshire side recruited several players in the summer transfer window, and one of those players that has hit the ground running is Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

The German forward was brought in on loan from Hamburg to replace the departed Chris Wood, and the 25 year old has already scored three goals in four league games for his new club.
