Clarke Carlisle has revealed he feels sad for the Leeds United faithful for what they’ve had to put up with in recent years. The 36-year-old spent a season with Leeds United, making 35 appearances.

Speaking to the YEP on how Leeds United are doing, Carlisle said he believes there isn’t any stability at the club or long term plans for success. The former Burnley star said the youngsters coming through play a certain amount of games, and then they are sold out by the club’s owners.

Carlisle went on to say for the sake of the Leeds United’s supporters, he hopes somebody takes over at the club and respects it like they do.

“Especially when there’s no pay off in terms of success or stability, or even seeing the youngsters come through because once they’ve played 40 games they’re off. I feel sad for Leeds supporters and hopefully they’ll get someone or some group at the helm who respect the club as much as they do,” said Carlisle on his former club.

Leeds United supporters in the past eight months have seen prized assets Sam Byram and Lewis Cooke leave for the Premier League after coming through the youth system. This has angered fans, as players seen as the future of the club have been moved on, and replaced by inferior new signings.
