Former Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn believes it’s a strange decision to let Sol Bamba leave the club just five league games into the season. Bamba recently left the Championship side by mutual consent after 18 months at the club.

Speaking to Radio Yorkshire, Redfearn was asked about the situation with Bamba, who played under Redfearn at Leeds United. Redfearn said people have their own opinions on players, but he believes the central defender brought pace to his team. Redfearn realises players can make mistakes, but he isn’t worried about Bamba not getting a new club any time soon.

“It is a strange thing to happen, I know people have their opinions but during my time at the club he brought us pace and athleticism and that is so important in this division. Players are only human, they make mistakes. I think he will get a club, I can see him getting picked up. We miss mobility now at the back,” said the ex-Leeds United boss.

Bamba joined Leeds United from Serie A side Palermo in 2015 after he an earned a contract following a successful six-month loan spell. The 31-year-old played 29 league games last season, but didn’t feature in Leeds United’s last three Championship matches.
