Leon Osman was released by Everton this summer after his contract expired at the Merseyside club. The 35-year-old is currently a free agent, and has been speaking to BBC Radio 5 about various Everton related things.
Osman recalls an incident during his time at Everton when he missed the team bus, as he was busy giving interviews after the game.
He said: “I missed the team bus once, as I was doing interviews after the game. I was running down the road, as I could see the bus leaving. It was stuck in traffic, and I was chasing it.
“I was banging the side of the bus. My phone fell out of my pocket and the bus ran over it. Some fella came and gave me my smashed phone.”
Osman also discussed Everton’s form under Dutch manager Ronald Koeman, and suggested Ross Barkley needs to be more consistent, whilst revealing the funny incident from the past.
It may have been considered that Everton’s bus would have noticed a missing squad member before setting off, or perhaps it was done on purpose, his teammates laughing as Osman desperately raced up the road.
