Former Arsenal and Sporting player Luís Boa Morte is set to be honoured at tonight’s Europa League clash between the two clubs.
As reported by newspaper Record today, the 41-year-old will watch the game from the VIP seats, and will get to the pitch during half time for a ceremony.
Boa Morte will be getting a picture from Sporting celebrating his years at the club, and should later have the chance to get close to fans.
Record recalls that Sporting had already done something similar with Paulo Futre earlier this year, when the Lions faced Atletico Madrid, two of his former clubs.
Luís Boa Morte started his career at Sporting’s academy, and played for the club until 1997, when he signed for the Gunners.He spent two years at the London side, where he won a Premier League and two Community Shields.
Since retiring in 2013, Boa Morte still had jobs at both clubs. He’s trained some youth levels at Sporting, and was also a scout for Arsenal.
He’s currently the manager of Portimonense’s U23 squad.
