Georges-Kévin N’Koudou’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur will surely be the subject of extra leaks for years, assuming it actually goes through this time.
The Marseille player has been in a London hotel for around a month and given that there’s not endless selfies appearing on social media, he’s pretty much kept himself private and to himself.
The room service bill must be colossal, and N’Koudou himself probably has at least mild cabin fever, but it seems like Tottenham’s strong arm transfer tactics have saved the club around €2m.
La Provence, a regional Marseille newspaper, report on Saturday on comments made by people at the French club when questioned about the saga.
Marseille manager Franck Passi is quoted as saying: “I have almost no opinion on it. We’re professionals, but it did not happen as planned. All transfers are not happening in the same way. If you want more details on what happens in the transfer window, it is best to talk with Gunter Jacob. He is taking care of that.”
Gunter Jacob is Marseille’s current football director, and so La Provence tried to get a comment from him. All that came back was that Jacob may talk about the situation once the window has closed.
Abou Diaby was quizzed on the stiation and asked if he’d ever seen anything like this in England, during his time with Arsenal, and he said: “No, no, I’ve never seen it.”
La Provence say the Marseille player seemed ‘half embarrassed’ by the situation, but despite reports saying it was Diaby who mentioned Arsenal, as if to mock Spurs… he didn’t even mention the name of his former club.
