Sporting are negotiating a loan deal with Nottingham Forest for Jota Silva, according to O Jogo in Portugal.

The report claims the Lions are looking to sign the 25-year-old Portuguese forward on loan, with a purchase option at the end of the season.

It’s said that head coach Rui Borges personally asked club president Frederico Varandas to speed up talks so that Jota can join the squad as soon as possible – ideally right after the pre-season camp in the Algarve.

Jota Silva worked under Rui Borges at the beginning of last season at Vitória Guimarães before moving to England for €12m in August 2024.

In his first Premier League campaign with Nottingham Forest, he scored four goals and registered two assists in 37 appearances.

The push for attacking reinforcements comes as Sporting prepare for the likely departure of Viktor Gyökeres, whose move to Arsenal is expected to be finalised soon.

In anticipation of the Swedish striker’s exit, the club are exploring several targets, and the Forest forward is among their priorities.
