Two months ago, Brentford manager Thomas Frank revealed that he’s flattered with the reports linking him to Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs showed the exit door to Antonio Conte in March and haven’t yet appointed his permanent successor. After Feyenoord boss Arne Slot snubbed the north London club last month, they have been looking at a few other candidates.
Recent claims have included the Brentford coach in Tottenham’s list. Viaplay had a chat with the Dane, where he was specifically asked him if Spurs are ‘special’. His quotes are relayed by Bold.dk.
Responding to that, he said: “I think there are many special clubs right now.”
“You don’t have to believe all the rumours, but sometimes there’s a lot in the rumours. It’s of course positive, because if you are mentioned, then you have done something good.”
“I have said it many times. I’m super happy to be at Brentford and I’m thriving, we’re performing and I’m feeling good.”
The 49-year-old has helped Brentford finish ninth in the table, one point behind eight placed Tottenham, in the recently concluded season. Last December, he extended his deal until 2027. Despite this, the manager has explained what he needs to leave Brentford.
“Whether I have to be here for the rest of my life? I probably shouldn’t. If I’m going to leave here, it has to be something special. What it is, I haven’t really defined,” Frank explained.
As of now, the Brentford manager is unlikely to change clubs in the summer.
When asked whether he’ll continue with the Premier League side next season, he said: “I am strongly betting on that. I can say that with 99.9% certainty, because in football you never know.”
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will decide to bet on the Brentford manager or focus on other candidates.
