Chiveo Verona are closing in on a deal to sign Anderlecht forward Samuel Bastien, according to claims in the Italian media. The youngster has been tracked by other clubs in recent months, including Liverpool.
TMW have revealed Chievo are hoping to get a deal done as soon as possible for Bastien after he impressed for Serie B side Avellino last season.
Chievo have been in talks with his parent club Anderlecht, and now the Flying Donkey’s need to come to an agreement with the Belgian side on the method of payment for the 19-year-old.
However, Chievo will need to get the deal done quickly following reports Pescara are also interested in the Belgium U21 international.
Earlier in the transfer window there claims Liverpool had put in a bid with Anderlecht to sign Bastien, but this was denied by his agent when we contacted him.
At the time Bastien’s agent confirmed to Sport Witness they would only speak about the player’s future when they heard something official.
“For the moment, he said nothing. But we will talk when it becomes official from Liverpool football club. We prefer to talk about an official offer.”
Bastien spent the last season on loan at Avellino, where he made 31 appearances, and his performances were good enough to attract interest from several big European clubs. The 19-year-old already has caps for Belgium’s U19 and U21 teams.
