Kamaldeen Sulemana joined Atalanta from Southampton in the summer window.

He reunited with former manager Ivan Juric, whose career faced a nosedive during the 2024/25 season. Now, the pair are working together again and thriving in Italy.

Former Atalanta player Roberto Rambaudi has spoken to Gazzetta dello Sport about the arrival from Southampton.

He had big praise for the Ghana international and believes that the Bergamo club will help his development. Rambaudi said, as relayed by TuttoAtalanta: “Many are having second thoughts about Sulemana.”

“He was an unknown name to the general public, but not to Juric, who knew him from his time at Southampton. He’s an explosive player, with devastating pace combined with a good touch on the ball.”

“In England, he showed flashes of interest, and today in Bergamo, he’s confirming them. With Juric’s daily work, he can improve a lot. He has enormous potential.”

Speaking further about Atalanta’s reputation for developing players, Rambaudi said:

“Bergamo knows how to nurture talent, and Kamaldeen is fitting in intelligently. He’s quick, but also more tactically disciplined than a few months ago. A textbook signing for a club that never misses the mark.”

La Dea are certainly known to bring the most out of attacking players. Mateo Retegui witnessed that last season and so has Charles de Ketelaere, who struggled at AC Milan. Ademola Lookman has also become a well-known figure in Europe after moving to Atalanta.

Sulemana has already shown that he is settling in well. So far in the season, he has two goals in Serie A and one assist. Those goals came in important matches against Juventus and Torino.

The 23-year-old could only score once in the Premier League at Southampton, and everything is working out for him in Italy.
