Aston Villa‘ Youri Tielemans should consider joining Bayern Munich or another top team in the summer.
Belgium Play Sports commentator Jelle Tack has backed the midfielder to secure a big move.
The 29-year-old joined Aston Villa for free in 2023, after spending over four years at Leicester City.
Earlier in the season, he revealed Unai Emery came to his home to convince him to pick the Villans.
The Belgium international initially had a difficult start to his Villa Park career. He overcame challenges and has been a regular under the Spaniard since then.
His performances for the Premier League side also helped him become Belgium’s captain in September.
On Thursday, he played the full 90 minutes in Aston Villa’s 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest. The result saw Emery’s side secure a berth in the Europa League final against SC Freiburg on May 20th.
Aston Villa star ideal for Bayern Munich
Prior to yesterday’s clash, Het Nieuwsblad had a detailed report on the developments that took place since Youri Tielemans moved to Villa Park.
The newspaper also spoke to Jelle Tack, who won’t be surprised if the former Leicester man leaves Aston Villa. The pundit picked Bayern Munich as the best option for the midfielder.
“Tielemans brings calmness on the ball, dictates the tempo and can put someone through on goal with a single pass. He is the complete package and, as it were, directs play from the cockpit,” he said.
“I find it hard to imagine that there haven’t been any offers yet. As far as I’m concerned, he can be ambitious.
“Aston Villa are fifth, but they aren’t part of the traditional ‘big six’ in England. Tielemans can hold his own at any top club. When I see the players at Bayern Munich, I think he’d fit in perfectly there. Those are teams that could certainly use him.”
Player already opened Aston Villa exit door
In January, the Belgian admitted he would consider changing clubs if there’s a concrete approach.
At that time, he said: “If something came my way, I would definitely consider it. Things can go fast in football. But my agent is responsible for that. I try not to think about it too much myself.”
Transfermarkt value Youri Tielemans, who has a contract until 2028, at €35m.
He’s managed a goal and seven assists from 31 matches for the Premier League side this season.
